Learn How to Embrace the Moment With Naomi Osaka

From preparation to reflection, take on challenges like a champion with this meditation series.

Tennis superstar and mental health advocate Naomi Osaka joined Modern Health as our Chief Community Health Advocate earlier this year to advance our shared mission to build stronger communities through access to diverse and stigma-free mental health care. One of the initiatives to come to life as part of this partnership that we are most excited about is our “Embrace the Moment with Naomi Osaka” meditation series, which is now available to all listeners on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music

As a four-time Grand Slam champion, Naomi understands what it takes to prepare for and rise to big moments. Throughout four meditations narrated by Naomi, she focuses on how to recognize and overcome challenges to achieve success.

Visualize The Challenge

During this meditation, you’ll take some time to ground your body and use visualization to feel more prepared and confident for an upcoming event. Naomi describes how calmly picturing various aspects of the event in your mind — from preparation to dealing with the unexpected — will help you take on the challenge with poise and confidence.

Reset Your Mind

During this meditation, you’ll reflect on your big event and determine what went well, what could be improved, and what you learned. Naomi details the questions you should ask yourself to get a holistic and balanced picture of your event. The goal is to put yourself into a more powerful space of self-improvement and out of a place where you feel powerless and self-critical.

Reframe Negative Self-Talk 

During this meditation, Naomi offers evidence-based affirmations and strategies to combat negative self-talk. When a negative thought comes in, it is helpful to first acknowledge it. She guides you through how to consider the purpose of the thought, whether it actually originated from you or an outside source, and the facts or evidence you have to support whether it is true or not.

Stay in the Now 

Naomi’s newest “Stay in the Now” meditation is timely and relevant for the holidays, when things can become busy and overwhelming. When you find yourself nervous or not thinking clearly, grounding through your senses can be a useful tool for getting out of your head and back into the moment. Naomi guides you through ways to check in with your feelings and touch base with your senses so you can be fully present with yourself.
